We finish with Jesus receiving his witness and credentials for what he says and does from the father and how the Jewish elite wouldn't receive it anyway because they missed Moses who God first sent.

Apostolic Bible Study - Episode 12

Lifestyle of Jesus - I am the Christ
John 4:9-14,20-23,25-26,31-32
Exodus 3:11-15

Summary:

In this episode we find our first unofficial "I am" statement from Jesus. Unofficial because he squeezes a descriptor between the "I" and the "am". Nevertheless, in this episode Jesus describes himself as the Christ (or Messiah). We trace the I am statements back to Moses' encounter with Jesus and why it is necessary for us to take the description of God that we get from him at first and build on it later.

The Lifestyle of Jesus

John 2:1-4
Proverbs 9:9-11

In this episode we begin our study of the description of Jesus' life and lifestyle. We primarily will be going through the Gospel of St. John for this as John gives us a high concentration of verses where Jesus is describing himself. Our first descriptor has to do with the marriage at Cana and Jesus declaring his hour was not yet come. We summarize that there is a time to say certain things and God chose the right time and didn't get off schedule with Jesus.

Hebrews 6:1-2
Genesis 2:15-22
Genesis 3:13-15
Luke 16:19-31
Matthew 22:23-30

Summary:
We first establish that there is only one of seven of the doctrine principles that introduces the concept of hell. Therefore damnation shouldn't be a huge portion of our doctrine. But the essences of eternal judgement is that God and being godly is a serious and eternal matter. We go over what Jesus teaches us about the concepts of heaven and hell. Essentially, we find that we will be in step with eternity if we understand the principles and repent from being out of step here and now on earth.

Apostolic Bible Study - Episode 005

Hebrews 6:1-2 - Laying on of hands

Supporting Texts:
Ephesians 4:12-15
Genesis 11:1-9
2 Corinthians 5:17-19

Summary:
In this episode we focused on a principle of the doctrine of Christ that I personally find a bit elusive. We first went through the definition of Christ. Then we studied how laying hands on something means you work on it (as in the tower of Babel). Next we established that the hand extends from the body to spread the word and work of God to the intention that it might be reconciled back to God as we see in Ephesians. Finally we conclude that what are hands are to be applied to is the building of the body of Christ which is a body of faith.

  • Went to Genesis 6:8-9 and established that Noah is described as perfect
  • Went to Matthew 5:48 and established that Jesus requires perfection out of Christians
  • In closing established that perfection and mastering adverse people and environments leads us to perfection
